SETUP ROUTINE –

SETUP routine
A SETUP ROUTINE results in a consistent, comfortable and balanced starting position ...
If you start balanced, it's easier to move balanced!
CONTROL the controllables!
The setup routine is the only part of the batting process under a player's complete control – they decide how they grip the bat, where they stand at the crease and how they lift the bat.
DEVELOP & PRACTICE
All players should be encouraged to develop and practice their setup routine – with practice, a setup routine develops quickly.
PROPERLY PREPARED!
A setup routine ensures that the player is properly prepared to receive the ball – grip the bat correctly, stand in the right place, balanced body position with head up and eyes level.
CONSISTENT ROUTINE
A consistent setup routine allows the player to develop the relationship between the stance position and the stumps – the player develops a feel for where they are in relation to the stumps.
Quick CHECKLIST
Having a routine provides the player with a quick checklist of the grip, stance and head before receiving the ball.
